Tyre Date Code Decoder: How Old Is Your Tyre?

Every tyre carries a DOT code on its sidewall. The last four digits show the week and year the tyre was made. Type those four digits below to see how old the tyre is and what to do about it.

How to find the code

  1. Look on the sidewall for the letters DOT.
  2. Find the four digits at the end of that group of letters and numbers. Sometimes they sit in a small oval.
  3. If you cannot see them, check the other side of the tyre. The full code is often on only one side.

How to read the digits

The first two digits are the week of the year, from 01 to 52. The last two digits are the year. So 0626 means week 6 of 2026. A code with only three digits means the tyre was made before the year 2000, and it is far too old to use.

What the age means

This tool gives general guidance. Always check your vehicle maker's advice, and look at the tyre for cracks and bulges.
